Members' Newsletter- New Autumn Tennis Schedule Trial

Dear Member,

After much consideration we are delighted to announce a new tennis schedule for the autumn. One that aims to balance the needs of the wide range of tennis standards that our club embraces, providing opportunities for everyone to play the type of tennis they wish and at the level they prefer.

Starting in the week commencing 14th September and running as a trial up to 18th December we will be introducing STC coach led team training on a Wednesday evening across courts 3-5, and Advanced Matchplay competitive doubles session across all courts on Thursday evening.

The demand for this change has been significant, with over 60 members stating that they want to attend the structured team training and competitive matchplay sessions that are designed to meet the aspirations of our best male & female players.

•The Wednesday session will move to courts 3-5 and free up courts 1-2 for private bookings when matches are not scheduled.
•The Advanced Matchplay replaces the Thursday Social Mix-in taking all courts and will work around early evening junior commitments the club has with STC.

The Social Mix-ins remain an important and vibrant part of the club. The existing sessions on Tuesday evening, Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning remain unaltered as do the weekday sessions on Tuesday & Friday mornings.

Please see click the link below to view the document that provides more detail around the thinking and structure of the new tennis schedule https://drive.google.com/file/d/18MfCEiZTDdXRaDSazAgZDDuoMl-y9HEr/view?usp=drive_link

If you are interested in joining the Wednesday / Thursday sessions and have not already been contacted please contact one of our tennis sub-committee (Fred Kirby, Alison Wade, Darryl Swift, John Cook) who have worked together to develop this new approach.

At the end of the autumn trial we will assess feedback from all members, look at the lessons learnt and decide how to set the tennis schedule for January onwards.

Additionally we have also arranged for a weekly day time session for the ladies B team. This will consist of an hours coaching and an hours matchplay. This will run alternately on Mondays & Tuesday mornings. Any ladies that are interested in playing team tennis & not already involved, please contact Alison Wade.

Kind regards, The WRLTC Committee
