Dear Member,
This week, the Club held its Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Monday, which marked the final meeting chaired by Mike McNulty following his tenure. We would like to take this opportunity to extend our sincere thanks to Mike for his many years of dedicated service to the Club. The minutes of the meeting & all the documents will be shared with members in due course.
Court Etiquette
We recently circulated updated club etiquette guidelines, which we have attached to this newsletter as well. Unfortunately, it has been brought to our attention that inappropriate language was used on court recently while junior members were playing nearby.
We would like to remind all members that this is a club for everyone. Please be mindful and courteous at all times towards your playing partners, opponents, and fellow members.
New WhatsApp Group for members re Club Updates
We are launching a new broadcast only WhatsApp group dedicated to sharing important club updates from the committee.
Over the past year, the committee has been considering ways to improve communication with members, and this week it was agreed that introducing a separate broadcast group is now essential. Many other clubs and organisations use this two-group approach successfully, and we believe it will work well for us too.
This group will be used solely for key announcements, ensuring important information doesn’t get lost in general conversation. WhatsApp is a great platform to share information quickly with members, but we will continue to send out newsletters too. The existing WhatsApp group will remain in place and continue to be used for member discussion, as it is today.
To join this group, please use your phone camera to scan the QR code in the attachment to this newsletter.
Thoughts and views that you would like the Committee to know about
To help the committee manage correspondence effectively, we ask that any queries are directed through the appropriate channels so they can be addressed by the committee as a whole. If you have any questions or concerns please remember to email helloweyltc@gmail.com .This is the club email we use & any issues can be then raised with the committee for consideration.
Review of all club mix-ins
Now that we have a full committee in place since the AGM, we will conduct a review of court usage and the mix-in sessions as a whole. We want to ensure they work well for everyone, and will update members once the review is complete.
Additional Social Mix-ins
Alongside the regular mix-in sessions, April includes five Thursdays this year, so an additional Thursday evening mix-in has been scheduled for 30th April.
We will also be running Bank Holiday Monday social mix-ins across all five courts on the following dates:
Monday 4th May, 10.00am – 12.30pm
Monday 25th May, 10.00am – 12.30pm
Monday 31st August, 10.00am – 12.30pm
Monday Afternoon Friendly Ladies League - More ladies needed! (please see attachment)
If you like to play matches and would like to play against other clubs, but prefer a more relaxed commitment or standard, the Monday Afternoon Friendly League is perfect for you. We urgently need more players to field a team for every fixture. So you will be warmly welcomed!
The team play friendly home and away matches against local clubs, usually starting at 1.00pm. The format is two pairs of ladies (so four players from each club) playing best of three sets, followed by time for some cake, a cuppa and a chat. It’s a wonderful way to meet new people from different clubs and enjoy a summer’s afternoon.
Please contact Diana Hill on WhatsApp: 07770 666085 to find out more and join in.
