Members' weekly update - MyCourts - helpful tips

Dear Member,

We hope that the slightly warmer, lighter evenings and dare we say, dryer weather is allowing you to get on court more.

This week, we are focusing on MyCourts, aiming to help you become more adept with the system now that it is the exclusive platform for court bookings. On the whole, MyCourts is functioning exceptionally well. However, we have added a couple of improvements.

Checking in

We discovered that some Members were checking in, but their playing time was still being registered as a no-show. Secondly, we learned that Members experience difficulties when trying to check-in from the Club carpark. We have now remedied both of these concerns.

You are now able to check-in up to 2.5 hours before the start of your booking and up to 2.5 hours after. This extension accommodates anyone with a two-hour booking.

We have expanded the check-in radius from the corner of the Club House, enabling you to check-in from the carpark.

We have also received questions about what to do if you leave your phone at home or if your phone battery dies. With change comes new habits, and it’s now essential to ensure you have a charged phone when heading to play tennis. Remember, anyone on the booking can check-in, not just the player who booked the court.

Late cancellations

It is crucial that if you’re unable to use your booking due to inclement weather, illness or any other reason, you please cancel your court ahead of the start time. Failure to do so will result in a 'late cancellation' on your profile. While the Club is currently not imposing any penalties for these, we may have to introduce reasonable consequences if there is a pattern of frequent late cancellations.

No Shows

No-shows are another important matter. Attached, you will find a section of the Court Booking Rules that you agreed to when signing up for MyCourts. It explains the check-in process and the implications of forgetting to check in. Forgetting to check-in will result in a 7 day booking ban for the member who booked the court, with each half-hour booking counting as one no-show.

Given the recent teething issues that prevented some Members from checking in, we have decided to waive the current batch of no-shows. However, now that these problems are resolved, any future repeated no-shows will result in the booking ban.

Ball Machine

In response to your requests, you will now see a new drop-down option called ‘Ball Machine’ when booking your court. Due to court usage & safety with the lead, please only use the Ball Machine on courts 3-5 and during less demanded times such as Monday-Friday before 5.00 pm. As the Club provides the balls, there is a nominal charge of 50p per half-hour.

If you still have queries or face any difficulties with Mycourts, please reach out to Tessa at helloweyltc@gmail.com.

All the best,

WLTC Committee
